Happy First Birthday, Pterodactyl!

13 Apr

365 days and 15 minutes ago, my Pterodactyl hatched.

Today, while celebrating her first birthday, I became a little downtrodden. I can’t believe my baby is one. She’s no longer a baby, but a toddler. As I was rocking her to sleep, I kept thinking, “One year ago exactly, I was holding you like this, on my chest, doing Kangaroo Care. You were so tiny and frail. Here you are, a mammoth of a baby. You barely fit on my chest and stomach anymore.”

Where the fuck does the time go?

Bullshit! She’s still a liitle hatchling; still tiny (albeit not particularly frail); and, time? Like they say in the song: “Keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’, over (your) shoulder.”

    Beats the alternative, Missy.

    No maudlin stuff, please.

Enjoy the day, and enjoy your kid.

We'd love to hear your thoughts
