About Daisy & Violet

Daisy & Violet met on a warm South Florida day. They were in the 9th grade. Thirteen or so years later, their relationship has earned many promotions, from friends, to best friends, to sisters, to Siamese twins, to this happy place of “heterosexual life partners.” Whether they’re separated by stop signs or hundreds of miles, they share in all of life’s joys, sorrows, struggles, and irreverent jibber-jabber.

Violet

At 27 years old, Violet has accomplished just enough to be able to show her face at her high school reunion, surrounded by Ivy League snobs. With a Bachelor’s degree in English Education, a Master’s Degree  in Educational Leadership, and a thriving teaching career, her resume is as meaningless as every other teacher you know. But what makes her most proud does not appear on her CV: her beautiful baby Pterodactyl, her six year (and counting) marriage to a freakishly tall army man, “Buddy”, and her interesting, if not maladjusted, circle of friends. Even though she arrived tardy to the Mommy Party, she feels confident that she will be a decent mother. At least she has the experienced Daisy to call at three in the morning in hysterics over baby hiccups. If Violet were a TV character, she would be Max from Two Broke Girls. If she were a flower, she’d be a Venus Fly Trap. If she were to choose her preferred means of death, she would drown in a swimming pool of sushi, stoned out of her gourd, with music from Rent blaring in her ear. In her past life, she enjoyed a lucrative marriage to Steven Tyler, a sexless marriage to Freddie Mercury, and a slutty fling with Rick Astley. This is one sarcastic bitch, Ladies and Gentlemen. As you climb the somewhat vacant realm of her mind, watch your step.

Daisy

Daisy jumped aboard the baby train pretty early in life. Best decision ever. Being a mom to 3; two 6 year olds and a 5 year old, is her proudest accomplishment. While her educational accolades might not impress at her high school reunion, the fact that she had 3 children in 18 months and doesn’t weigh 300 pounds might. Time will tell. Her group of kiddos, herein referred to as “Diva”, “Intuitive”, and “Handsome” have proven to be quite entertaining. In fact, she has more memories of funny stories and random “did this shit really happen to me” moments than diaper stories. That is impressive since all 3 of her children were diaper dwellers for a LONG time.  Daisy is divorced from the kids’ father. That’s all she has to say on THAT subject. She is in a wonderful relationship with “Terry”. He’s pretty super, not bad to look at, and he loves her and her kids a whole lot. If Daisy were a TV character, she would be Joan from Mad Men. If she were a flower, she’d be a bad ass bird eating death trap thing. Her preferred method of death mirrors Violet’s, but she’d be ok to just be very old, very happy, and surrounded by the people she loves. Daisy is a licensed hairstylist, and really enjoys streaking and blowing.. Hair, of course. Welcome to the jungle of Daisy. Sarcasm and a healthy dose of snark await you.

Our Cast of Characters

Buddy

Violet’s hubby. Picture Sylvester Stalone with a stock market fetish and a soft spot for his baby girl.

Pterodactyl

Violet’s cheeky little diaper dweller – Currently one year old, but that changes regularly. Penchant for kiddie cheesy poofs and Elmo.

Terry

Daisy’s significant other (“boyfriend” sounds ridiculous to Daisy, at her age)

(Violet edit: As far as Buddy and I are concerned, he’s the baby daddy. Pterodactyl will call him “Uncle Terry,” he’s that legit.)

Diva

Daisy’s “older” twin, 6 years old. Female. Smarter than you, me, and everyone you know. (older than Intuitive by 2 minutes)

Intuitive

Daisy’s “younger” twin, 6 years old. Female. Smart, witty, very intuitive. Great people reader. Don’t mess with her.

Handsome

Daisy’s 5 year old son, aka, “The third twin”. Ladies’ man, will do anything for a laugh. Major hugger and lover.

These are two kick-ass bitches! One, as irreverent and crass as a hooker in a convent; the other, a spear-catcher without any inhibitions or filters. If you, the reader, want an endless succession of hoots – – and if you can stand (or, better still, enjoy and grin at) coarse, unrestrained, in-your-face reality, wholly unconcerned with social convention and niceties, stay here for the ride. Give them support and (like a recently-liberated nun who realizes that “nun” and “none” may be homonyms but, at the same time, antonyms) they’ll give you a raucous roll.

I know: I taught one of them to be all that she is now.
